The Loudonville-Perrysville Athletic Boosters have undertaken a fundraising effort to replace the rubberized track at Redbird Stadium. Due to serious cracks in the base and rubber this will be the last season the track will be used. The existing track, installed in 1999, had a life expectancy of 10 to 12 years. The Boosters plan to repair cracks and other defects in the spring so the track can be used for the upcoming season.
The new 8 line track will cost $250,000 and will be built by Vasco Sports Contractor of Massillon. To raise money for the replacement track the Boosters are seeking lane sponsors. Each lane, title “platinum lanes,” are $15,000 each. Boosters are also seeking donation levels of gold ($1,000-$5,000), silver ($500.00-$999.00), and bronze $250.00-$499.99). All sponsors will be recognized with their name on a plaque displayed at the stadium and logos will also be included for business sponsorships.
The Boosters are also considering hosting dinners before home basketball games this winter to help raise money for the project. Plans are also being made to host another Purse Bingo night in March due to the successful Purse Bingo event that generated $9,500 in the fall.
Interested community members, businesses and organizations that would like to help fund the replacement track may contact Josh Buzzard, president of the Loudonville-Perrysville Athletic Boosters, or Kim Rush, Booster board member.
