The Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted Village School District welcomes three new individuals to its Redbird Athletics Department: Chad Spurlock, athletic director; Daryl Young, girls basketball head coach; and Ed Honabarger, head football coach and Loudonville High School assistant principal.
Chad Spurlock assumes the role of Athletic Director with extensive experience in educational leadership and athletic administration. Spurlock's tenure as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Kingsway Christian School in Orrville, coupled with his previous role as an Athletic Administrator and Dean of Students at Green Local School District in Smithville, demonstrates his commitment to promoting excellence in the classroom and on the field.
“We are looking forward to next school year and our fall athletic season under Spurlock’s leadership,” noted Superintendent Jennifer Allerding. “His experience and passion for athletics were apparent throughout his interview process and we are excited to welcome him into our Redbird community.”
The girls basketball team will also be under new leadership next season. Daryl Young has accepted the role of head coach, bringing an impressive track record of success. His twelve-year coaching journey spans from guiding teams to Arizona state championships to nurturing athletes' growth on and off the court. His athletic resume also boasts accolades, such as the Ashland Times-Gazette Girls Basketball Coach of the Year for the 2021-22 season.
“Daryl is an experienced coach with a successful record in leading basketball teams,” remarked Allerding. “Our girls had an incredible season this year and are excited to see what next season will bring under Coach Young.”
The district also welcomes newly appointed Head Football Coach and LHS Assistant Principal Ed Honabarger. Honabarger's legendary status in neighboring districts speaks volumes about his expertise and leadership on the football field. With an impressive coaching career marked by league championships, playoff runs and numerous coaching awards, Honabarger is poised to elevate the football program to unprecedented levels of success. His passion for the game and dedication to shaping young athletes into well-rounded individuals align perfectly with the values of Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted Village School District.
Honabarger will also assume the role of Assistant Principal at LHS following Dan Eckenwiler's retirement. He brings a dynamic background as an educator, dean of students, assistant principal and principal.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ed to the team. His expertise in football and school administration are exciting for our district and our students,” stated Allerding. “Our Redbird football team is a staple in our community, and I am looking forward to the excitement of Friday nights this fall.”
