The Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted Village School District has announced plans to conduct active shooter training in partnership with Ashland County law enforcement and first responders. The training sessions are scheduled for January 3 and 4, 2025, at Budd Elementary School.
This training is in preparation for a full-scale active shooter drill at Loudonville High School in June 2025.
“As we say often, the safety of our students and staff is our top priority as a school district,” noted Loudonville-Perrysville Superintendent Jennifer Allerding. “The safety drills we practice are essential to creating a secure learning environment by improving emergency preparedness and ensuring that staff, students, and first responders are equipped to manage potential crises in alignment with our safety procedures.”
Last fall, the district installed the Centegix CrisisAlert system to enhance safety protocols. The system allows staff to instantly alert administrators and first responders during times of crisis, ensuring rapid assistance.
The system’s features include:
Staff Alerts: Activated by any staff member via a wearable badge to address non-life-threatening situations such as medical emergencies or student conflicts.
Lockdown Alerts: Reserved for severe threats, triggering strobe lights, PA announcements, computer monitor takeovers, and immediate notifications to first responders.
Shelter Alerts: Used to secure buildings during nearby incidents or escalating situations.
Evacuation Alerts: Activated when an imminent safety threat requires building-wide evacuation.
“In the event of a real emergency, the district will communicate with our families via our all-call system, email, text and app notifications,” stated Superintendent Allerding. “We encourage all of our families to familiarize themselves with our communication tools, especially our app, which is a newer tool, so they can feel confident in receiving information from us.”
