LHS/ACWHCC student Preston Smeltzer has been selected to represent Firelands Electric as a delegate on the NRECA/Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives 2025 Youth Tour, which will take place in June. Preston will travel to Gettysburg and Washington, D.C., with approximately 50 other students and chaperones from electric co-ops throughout the state of Ohio. Once in the nation’s capital, he will join students from electric cooperatives across the country. Preston will have the opportunity to meet congressional leaders, visit the US Capitol, Smithsonian Institution, Mount Vernon, the Kennedy Center, the Supreme Count, Arlington Cemetery and numerous other memorials and historic sites. Preston will also meet Ohio congressional representatives and attend Youth Day to learn more about cooperatives and the rural electric program.
